Study on Relationship Enhancement and Intimate Partner Violence Prevention Wins 2025 Thompson Award
The Military Family Research Institute (MFRI) at Purdue University has named a study examining the Strength at Home Couples (SAH-C) program as the recipient of the 2025 Thompson Award. The research found that military service members participating in the evidence-based, trauma-informed intervention experienced greater reductions in physical, psychological and sexual intimate partner violence compared to those in a comparison group. Participants and their partners also reported fewer suicidal thoughts and behaviors, highlighting the program’s potential to strengthen military relationships and improve family well-being.
