Foli recognized by APNA for book that seeks to close research practice gap in psychiatric nursing

Karen J. Foli, PhD, RN, CFF faculty partner, associate professor of Nursing, and Director, PhD in Nursing Program, has written a book that truly seeks to close the research practice gap in psychiatric nursing.

Dr. Foli is the recipient of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) 2018 Award for Media for her textbook about adoption and kinship families: Nursing Care of Adoption and Kinship Families: A Clinical Guide for Advanced Practice Nurses.

The APNA media award is given to members who have demonstrated excellence in producing media related to psychiatric-mental health nursing. Her book was identified to have the potential to be used by psychiatric-mental health nurses, organizations, consumers, families or communities, and contribute to the advancement of psychiatric-mental health nursing practice, management, research and/or education.

This year’s recipients will be recognized in person at the APNA 32nd Annual Conference in the fall. The APNA Annual Awards recognize APNA members who demonstrate excellence in psychiatric-mental health nursing practice, education, research, leadership, community efforts, and more.
